Fruit Tea: Fruity Flavours in a Delicious Infusion

Fruit tea is a colourful and versatile way to enjoy a fruity drink. Unlike green and black tea, a fruit infusion is not made from the tea plant. Dried fruit, flowers, herbs and other plant-based ingredients form the base. As a result, fruit teas are naturally caffeine-free, so you can enjoy them at any time of day.

At De Zeeuwse Sommelier, you’ll find a carefully selected collection of loose-leaf fruit teas and fruit infusions. The collection currently includes nine different blends, with a variety of flavour profiles.

From sweet and fruity to fresh and spicy

The great thing about fruit tea is its enormous variety. Do you enjoy mellow, sweet flavours? Then blends with apple, pear or peach are worth exploring. Toffe Peer, for example, is a fruity blend with pear at its heart. Apple Tea with Peach also brings familiar fruity flavours together in an approachable infusion.

For citrus lovers, blends with orange and ginger are a great choice. If you prefer something fresh and floral, try a blend such as Fresh Blossom & Strawberry. And for a more intense, fruity flavour, berries and other red fruits are wonderful ingredients.

The collection therefore offers both familiar flavours and surprising combinations. This makes loose-leaf fruit tea an appealing choice for anyone who enjoys trying different flavours.

Caffeine-free fruit tea

One key advantage of fruit infusions is that they are naturally caffeine-free. (Like rooibos and herbal tea.) This makes them a great alternative when you’d like a break from coffee, green tea or black tea. You can also enjoy a warm cup of fruity infusion in the evening without a second thought.

It’s worth distinguishing between a true fruit tea and a flavoured green or black tea. The latter is based on the tea plant, so it naturally contains caffeine. A pure fruit infusion has no tea-plant base.

Fruit tea, hot and cold

Fruit tea is delicious not only as a hot drink. Many fruit blends are perfect for homemade iced tea. Brew the infusion a little stronger than you would for a hot drink, then let it cool and serve over ice. Add fresh fruit, mint or a little honey if you like.

Its fruity flavour makes a fruit infusion especially suited to warm summer days. But fruity blends are delicious in winter too, for example when combined with spices such as cinnamon, ginger or orange.

How do you brew fruit tea?

For most fruit infusions, use hot to boiling water at around 95–100°C. Give the ingredients enough time to release their flavour; a steeping time of around 5 to 10 minutes is a good starting point. A longer steep will generally result in a more intense flavour. Check the specific brewing instructions for each blend.

Explore our collection of loose-leaf fruit teas and fruit infusions and choose your favourite blend. From mellow apple and pear to fresh citrus and summery red fruit, fruit tea brings a wonderfully fruity tea experience to your home.
