Why choose Twinings tea?

Twinings is one of the best-known names in the world of tea. The brand originated in London, where Thomas Twining opened his first Tea Shop in 1706. More than three centuries later, Twinings is still known for its classic tea blends and distinctive flavours.

One of the best-known Twinings teas is, of course, Earl Grey. This classic blend combines black tea with bergamot, giving it its distinctive fresh, slightly citrusy aroma. At De Zeeuwse Sommelier, you’ll find several Twinings Earl Grey varieties, including classic Earl Grey, Lady Grey, Green Earl Grey and a caffeine-free Earl Grey.

But Twinings is about much more than Earl Grey. Our collection also includes English Breakfast, Darjeeling, Ceylon and green tea. There are also flavoured green and black teas featuring ingredients such as lemon, ginger, jasmine, vanilla and red berries. Herbal and fruit infusions are also part of the range.

Twinings tea bags

A large part of the range consists of Twinings tea bags. This makes it quick and easy to brew a good cup of tea. There’s no need to measure out loose tea or use a filter: simply place a tea bag in a cup or pot, add hot water and leave to steep.

For those who prefer loose-leaf tea, some Twinings varieties are also available loose, including Earl Grey in various pack sizes.

A tea for every taste

The wide range makes Twinings appealing both to lovers of classic tea and to those who enjoy trying different flavours.

Do you like classic teas? Choose Twinings Classics such as English Breakfast, Ceylon, Darjeeling or Earl Grey.

Prefer green tea? Try, for example, green tea with jasmine, lemon, mint or ginger.

Looking for something fruity? Twinings offers several combinations of flavoured tea with berries, pomegranate, raspberry and other fruits.

Prefer tea without caffeine? There are options for that too, such as Twinings Earl Grey caffeine-free.

This makes it easy to discover different flavours within a single brand.

RATHER LOOSE-LEAF TEA ?

Of course, you can also alternate between loose tea and tea bags. Tea bags are convenient at work, and at home you can create your own tea moment with loose tea. For example.

TWININGS, SINCE 1706

Thomas Twining, the founder of the Twinings tea empire, bought a coffee house in London but soon distinguished himself as a tea warehouse. Coffee was more of a man's business, and tea was mainly drunk by women in leading circles.
By selling tea, Twining significantly broadened his clientele.

To this day, Twinings is located on the same site where brothers Richard and John Twining opened their tea warehouse in 1787, on the Strand in London.

A household name in tea for more than 300 years.
