Darjeeling

Darjeeling (India) has a rich history of high-quality tea. The British began cultivating and processing tea there centuries ago. For many years, Darjeeling was considered the finest tea in the world. After some difficult years, Darjeeling teas are now finding their way back to the top. Darjeeling teas grow at high altitudes and are processed mainly into black tea. Their color is generally lighter than, for example, Ceylon tea. You can also tell from the dry tea leaves that they are not black, but rather green and/or brown.

The flavor notes in Darjeeling tea are often floral and sometimes fruity, with muscatel notes. The mouthfeel can be dry—the tea can be somewhat astringent. But its beautiful aromas often more than make up for that. Darjeeling generally pairs well with sweet treats such as pastries, cookies, whipped cream, etc.

How is the tea packaged?

All our loose-leaf tea is packaged in airtight (sealed) bags. The packaging, of course, includes a description of the tea, brewing instructions, and ingredients.

We package your tea with each order. This means that we create and fill the packaging to order.

How long does the tea keep?

Loose tea stores well. In its sealed packaging, the tea is at least good until the date on the package. For pure tea, this is often 2 years. For flavored tea, 1.5 years.

Shipping and rates

All orders, except for Bunzlau Castle items, are shipped via PostNL. We will email you the tracking information as soon as your order has been packed and is ready for dispatch.

If you collect your parcel from a PostNL pickup point, you have one week to do so. After that, PostNL will return the parcel to us.
One delivery attempt is made as standard. If you are not at home, the parcel will be taken directly to a nearby PostNL Service Point. You will then automatically receive an email with information about where and when you can collect your order.

Sustainable packaging

To help protect the environment, we reuse as much used packaging material as possible. If boxes are still sturdy enough, we use them to pack orders. Some boxes may look a little more "used" than others. If a box is no longer sturdy enough, it is shredded and used as filling material to protect items such as porcelain and earthenware.

If a box looks damaged when it arrives, please let us know as soon as possible. Ideally, please email us a photo so we can take a look with you.

How is tea best stored?

Simply put: store in a cool, dry place.

It is best to store your tea in its closed packaging at room temperature. But once it is open, you can seal the packaging tightly with, for example, a clip or clothespin. But this is neither very nice nor practical.

It is important that as little oxygen as possible can get to your tea. So a sealable tin or jar is handy. And it looks nice.

Light is also not good, so bags with a window or glass jars are less suitable, unless you store them in a dark cabinet.

Delivery time

For almost all items, the delivery time is 1 to 2 business days. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, all packages are dispatched. If an order is placed before 4:00 PM on one of those days, it will usually be delivered the same day.

For coffee, sometimes (when the coffee still needs to be roasted) we need a little extra time. You will then receive a super fresh product. We opt for the highest quality, and that takes a little extra time.

You can easily pay with iDEAL, Mastercard or Visa Card with 3D Secure. Safe and reliable.

Of course, you can also pay by manual bank transfer. Please include your order number so that we can quickly link your payment to your order.
