No. 196 Nepal Jun Chiyabari Hand-Rolled

More exciting than Darjeeling
This hand-rolled black tea has a soft, complex flavour that is reminiscent of Darjeeling but still has its own distinct character.
In the Himalayas, Nepal borders the Darjeeling province in India. It is therefore no wonder that, just like in Darjeeling, conditions in Nepal are favourable for growing tea. In the high mountains, where temperatures are relatively low, the tea leaves grow slowly but steadily. This generally results in an intense flavour.
This Jun Chiyabari has the well-known characteristics of Darjeeling tea. The leaves are light and green in colour, and the aromas are reminiscent of spicy grassland and hay.
But this Nepalese tea is pleasantly sweet in flavour and not astringent, as Darjeeling often is. The grassy aromas are complemented by a light, earthy, complex flavour.
Jun Chiyabari is a tea estate in Nepal. A family business founded in 2000, with around 90 hectares of tea gardens situated at an altitude between 1,650 and 2,200 metres above sea level.
The estate consists of forest, bamboo thickets, rocky terrain and flowing streams. Nestled among these are small tea gardens with high-quality cultivars, each located no more than 10 km from the centrally located factory, where the tea leaves are processed. The tea produced is therefore a blend of different cultivars. It is produced exclusively using organic methods.

Frequently Asked Questions
We have briefly summarized the essential information here.
Still have questions? Contact us via our contact page.
How is the tea packaged?
All our loose-leaf tea is packaged in airtight (sealed) bags. The packaging, of course, includes a description of the tea, brewing instructions, and ingredients.
We package your tea with each order. This means that we create and fill the packaging to order.
How long does the tea keep?
Loose tea stores well. In its sealed packaging, the tea is at least good until the date on the package. For pure tea, this is often 2 years. For flavored tea, 1.5 years.

Sustainable packaging
To help protect the environment, we reuse as much used packaging material as possible. If boxes are still sturdy enough, we use them to pack orders. Some boxes may look a little more "used" than others. If a box is no longer sturdy enough, it is shredded and used as filling material to protect items such as porcelain and earthenware.
If a box looks damaged when it arrives, please let us know as soon as possible. Ideally, please email us a photo so we can take a look with you.
How is tea best stored?
Simply put: store in a cool, dry place.
It is best to store your tea in its closed packaging at room temperature. But once it is open, you can seal the packaging tightly with, for example, a clip or clothespin. But this is neither very nice nor practical.
It is important that as little oxygen as possible can get to your tea. So a sealable tin or jar is handy. And it looks nice.
Light is also not good, so bags with a window or glass jars are less suitable, unless you store them in a dark cabinet.
Delivery time
For almost all items, the delivery time is 1 to 2 business days. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, all packages are dispatched. If an order is placed before 4:00 PM on one of those days, it will usually be delivered the same day.
For coffee, sometimes (when the coffee still needs to be roasted) we need a little extra time. You will then receive a super fresh product. We opt for the highest quality, and that takes a little extra time.
Pay
You can easily pay with iDEAL, Mastercard or Visa Card with 3D Secure. Safe and reliable.
Of course, you can also pay by manual bank transfer. Please include your order number so that we can quickly link your payment to your order.
