A Hidden Treasure

In the Andes Mountains of central Peru, right on the edge of the Ashaninka-Yanesha Nature Reserve, lies the coffee village of Villa Rica. It is difficult to reach, located a 10-hour journey from the capital, Lima. Perhaps that is why the coffee from this village is one of Peru's best-kept secrets. This rainforest area enjoys a mild coffee-growing climate, with temperatures between 15°C and 25°C.

The coffee is grown on small plots in these forests. The coffee plants grow among bananas, linden trees and native trees, providing the coffee bushes with plenty of shade and nutrients. The coffee bushes are nourished with coffee pulp and other organic fertilizers produced on the farm.

The coffee from this plantation is purchased directly from the cooperative (Farmers Direct). Because there are fewer intermediaries involved in purchasing this coffee, a larger share of the proceeds goes to the farmer. A little gem is produced here with a great deal of love and hard work. This coffee has a pleasant lime-like acidity, sweet notes of caramel and almond, and a light floral finish. It is a versatile coffee that can be brewed in many different ways.

COFFEE BY DE ZEEUWSE SOMMELIER

ZEEUWS COFFEE AND TEA HOUSE

FRESHLY BAKED

We roast our coffee beans twice a week, so the coffee is always fresh.

Orders are shipped daily. If you order before 4:00 PM, your coffee will be shipped the same day.

Some varieties are roasted especially for you, which may result in a slightly longer delivery time. In that case, we will always send you an email so you know that your order is being processed.

WHOLE BEANS OR GROUND?

Many people grind the beans themselves in a fully automatic machine or with a grinder next to the coffee machine.

No grinder at home? Then we will grind the beans for you. With the 250 and 500 gram packages, you can choose your grind.

Click on the link below for more information about the coffee grinds.

Choose the right coffee grind

Although coffee beans stay fresh longest when left unground, we can also grind the coffee for you. Not everyone has a coffee grinder at home, after all.

We grind coffee for filter, espresso, cafetière, etc. Below is a table showing the right grind settings for different brewing methods. Choose your grind setting before adding the coffee to your shopping cart.

We only grind our beans to order in 250 g and 500 g bags. So if, for example, you want a kilo of ground coffee, order 4 x 250 g or 2 x 500 g. You can then open one bag while keeping the others sealed airtight and therefore fresh.

All coffee is packed airtight in a sealed bag with a valve. The valve lets air out of the bag but not in. If air could not escape, the bag could inflate. Fresh coffee releases gases, after all. This is a natural process.

Grind settings

Grind 3: Fine espresso ECM, Quickmill, Ascaso, Rancilio, etc.

Grind 5: Drip coffee Standard drip coffee maker, Jura (for the compartment for ground coffee)
Grind 6: Pour-over For filters filled by pouring water over the coffee by hand.
Grind 7:

Cafetière/

Sustainable packaging

To help protect the environment, we reuse as much used packaging material as possible. If boxes are still sturdy enough, we use them to pack orders. Some boxes may look a little more "used" than others. If a box is no longer sturdy enough, it is shredded and used as filling material to protect items such as porcelain and earthenware.

If a box looks damaged when it arrives, please let us know as soon as possible. Ideally, please email us a photo so we can take a look with you.

    Delivery time

For almost all items, the delivery time is 1 to 2 business days. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, all packages are dispatched. If an order is placed before 4:00 PM on one of those days, it will usually be delivered the same day.

For coffee, sometimes (when the coffee still needs to be roasted) we need a little extra time. You will then receive a super fresh product. We opt for the highest quality, and that takes a little extra time.

    Pay

You can easily pay with iDEAL, Mastercard or Visa Card with 3D Secure. Safe and reliable.

You can also pay by manual bank transfer, of course. Please include your order number so that we can quickly link your payment to your order.
